06- 27- 2025: SHOW THEM THE SIZZLE
I was having an interesting conversation with someone a while back. They were giving me feedback and some pointers for this portfolio and what it could be and that conversation really stuck with me.
They explained that a portfolio really has to get only a few things across... One, that you have good ideas. Two, that you know how to actualize those good ideas. And three, that the final product does the well-intentioned project justice.
This approach to my portfolio was foreign to me as I was always taught to show every aspect of my process—front to back. But in reality, they were really hinting at the fact that the portfolio is something to get employers excited about you—excited about your ideas and outlook on things.
I’m going to try their approach and un-trust the process. I’m going to explain my thinking and why these projects need to exist but save everyone the time and not show sketches. At this point, I just want to share my deepest apologies to Trygve Faste (my design drawing teacher for 2 years) for my switch-up and hope he understands the reasoning :)
